Aftermath

Now that I've finally finished my project, I look at it after it was done. It turned out exactly like what I wanted it to. I think it conveys good messages throughout the entire video. I haven't ever implemented subtle camera motion with any of my video work before. So this was interesting to look back at. I learned how to scale footage and it had an awesome affect on my project. It is really easy to follow through and listen to.

I think the most rewarding thing to come from having done this is me being able to put it in my internet book. It lended itself to youtube real well.

Restoration

Midterm Progress

Since the recent post for VP399, I've made so much progress for the work that I've put into this project. I'm more than half way done with the piece of Media so far. I'm actually enthralled about how it all has turned out up to now.

I have made the lengths of the clips vary according to the text captions that are placed over them. And I have also experimented with the placement of the text typography. I only have about four more video clips to develop with what is left. Once this is completed, I will modify or touch up any discrepancies. I'm really happy with how far this has come.

Since this week...

Now that I have final cut 7 at hand, I have began to put my project together... Having final cut X helped me to put the order of my images together for the product that I am producing in final cut 7.

I also gave thought about all the text captions that will place themselves with the visual images. I have every part of my typography verified. I have a lot of progress going for the software I have been using. I know how it will ultimately turn out.

Next week, I am gonna aim to have every text caption placed over the suitable images of my project. After having this done, it will help me decide the length (or time) of the images as they flash through the project. Once the duration of the images are concluded in co ordinance with the text captions, I'll be able to see if I should include more pictures than what I already have.

After this finalizes itself, I will begin to work on the motion or movement of the images. The slow pans and the zoom outs. I'm very excited about how it will turn out. I had help from you last class on the audio. This help you gave me made me not have to purchase the music online, which saved some hassle. So anyhow, I'm on a roll and I am looking forward to how much progress will take its course after Monday and Wednesday.

Project Proposal

My project proposal that I am going to make happen is a montage video. I plan to use the Caribbean Photography as well as photography from my hometown and perhaps photography from Ireland too. I am meaning to use the still images combined with subtle camera movements to accentuate how fantastic it can become. Throughout all the pictures that are captured in the video sequence, there will be text captions that pertain to meaningful outlooks on things such as life, love, dreams, adventure, and perhaps personal proverbs or statements that I feel are worth mentioning or including.

So with beautiful imagery presented from Caribbean and Irish photography, I am meaning to enhance it with slow zooms and subtle camera movement. The music that goes together with this digital media display hasn’t been chosen yet but I am wanting to find something beautiful and melodic to go over with this piece. In Final Cut Pro, I’ll need to learn how to create slow subtle movement with a still image. I really feel that the pictures I will present in this project come from really rare material that could not have been located anywhere else. So I am thankful that I can lend my Virgin Island adventures into something that will turn out awesome.

As for the timeline that I am going to implement into my progress, I know that once I acquire the music I would need, all I would have to do figure out how to create the camera movement for the photography I will use. Once that figures itself out, all I would have to do is edit it and put it all together in Final Cut Pro. So as for the first week of October, I am aiming to have the music ready or at least decided. After having the music decided, the visuals are already at hand. So if I can identify what music I will use by the first half of October, as well as all the visual material readily available, maybe by the middle of this month, I can approach it in Final Cut Pro.

I have already created a list of all the symbolic captions that will present themselves with the visuals. The only thing I haven’t done with the visuals and text captions is decide what statements will go with what pictures I present. But I am going to have that clarified by the end of this week. So after locating the music in the first half of September, I will also give thought to the captions that will go with each individual photo from the material of my travels. Supposing this can all happen this week, next week, or by the middle of the month, I will begin editing. I suppose the only immediate challenge I need to tackle is working with you individually to nail the technique I am incorporating into this media piece, the technique of slow subtle camera movement for the still images. So perhaps by the end of this month, it will all come together and create a similar feel as the videos that I posted from the first blog entry. I am looking forward to seeing how it will all turn out.

British Virgin Islands ~ Paradise, The Mermaid's Chair

Tir Na nOg is a Celtic Realm that is also known as The Land of Eternal Youth. In Tir na nOg, day never turns to night and love never turns to sorrow. This montage I made was of Ireland and the Virgin Islands. It is a digital piece of media that is a unique approach to videography. It combines messages with video shots. Some of the messages are musical references and Native American Proverbs. The clips that was of the British Virgin Islands with the Caption, "Fear is not the end of this" is from the song 'I Alone.' What I like so much about this, is that it reveals random clips of realities that make is seem dreamy. I like that it is a surreal media record of unexpected things that make interpreted sense to each other. Things that derive from Ireland and the Virgin Islands.

I'm Alive

I really love how encouraging this is. I love how it starts off. And each visual picture combined with its blissful proverbs in text means so much. The music by Celine Dion. I think it is beautiful music blended with some of the most fantastic nature shots. You can actually sense the momentum through the music as each message passes by. It also reminds me of the forgiveness that I came between me and a person of my past.

Mermaid's Song

The somber, crytic, beautiful music sets an incredible mood for the imagery of mermaids. I think what made this piece of media powerful was the slow movements of the different pictures. These pictures blended smoothly. And I love what mermaids symbolize. I love them for what they mean, what they resemble. I was infatuated with mermaids every since I lived my pirate life in the Caribbean. The mermaids of this piece of media are so beautiful that it seems too good to be true. They make you wonder where they are from. I think after affects had to do with the subtle motion or movements that enhanced this video.
