The Human Condition ~ Adventure and Restoration

FINAL DOCUMENTATION

This project turned out exactly as I meant it to. Since I have a video distribution channel through youtube, I was able to upload it and embed it into my chronicled blog.

The first step to this media project had to do with choosing the images. It was all synchronized with the duration of the music. I selected photography pictures from my travels and fashioned them into video I was able to put text over. After I knew what images were going to go into the video bar, I gave thought to the order of the images. As soon as I knew how many would expand the timeline, I had 18 different travel locations as video clips.

When I knew what images would go into this, I put them in a thoughtful order. The typography captions and text statements were something entirely separate. I collected passages that people have said about things such as: adventure, scripture, love, dreams, and spirit. Once I had 18 different sayings I put those into a thoughtful order as well. Then I knew what text captions went with what images.

As the videography was in order I began putting text onto the video images. These images where pulled from Ireland, The Virgin Islands, Alaska, and home; Bandon Oregon. As the text were rendering the whole project began to take shape. However, some of the text captions were hard to read due to the white background for certain images. I resolved this by putting 3 to 4 drop-shadows around the words, each of their own angle. This made the typography blend with the video but it also helped the words to stand out so they are easy to read.

I didn't know how to scale a section of footage until this class. Once Robert helped me learn that technique I was able to put motion into my imagery. This wasn't anything I knew how to do before class. But after having done this to the video in the timeline, I changed the direction of the camera movement according to the content of the scenes. Some zoomed in, some zoomed out. They all were motioned in differing directions. I thought it had a subtle flow to it because supposing I didn't know how to make any motion at all - it would have been dull. I also centered the text and typography in different places for the different images.

The purpose of this video is to illustrate the human condition. It is also a personal product that came from things I have seen and felt while I went into the world. If it was easy to travel in an often constant way, I would collect fresh photography so I came do another project similar to this. I think it is a very deep beautiful peice of media. It is for a universal audience. Anyone can listen to it because it is simulated with a gental instrumental.

I'm Alive

I really love how encouraging this is. I love how it starts off. And each visual picture combined with its blissful proverbs in text means so much. The music by Celine Dion. I think it is beautiful music blended with some of the most fantastic nature shots. You can actually sense the momentum through the music as each message passes by. It also reminds me of the forgiveness that I came between me and a person of my past.
